CNBC's Yousef Gamal El-Din talks business and finance in the Middle East, the world's biggest sovereign wealth fund. Meet the region's top three richest people as of March 2012:

#1 - Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud


A citizen of Saudi Arabia, Prince Alwaleed's net worth is RM56.9 billion. Most of his wealth is garnered through investments, including shares in Apple and a multi-million investment in Twitter.

#2 - Mohammed Al Amoudi


Worth RM39.5 billion, Al Amoudi is a famous businessman from Saudi Arabia. His fortune is sourced from an agriculture business in Ethiopia as well as an investment in petroleum.

#3 - Mohamed Bin Issa A Jaber


This Saudi Arabian chairman of the MBI International group owns a string of luxury hotels in Europe and Egypt, dabbles in real estate and boasts a net worth of RM22.1 billion.
